The Gravity SFA40 is a high-precision formaldehyde sensor for HCHO concentrations of 0–1000 ppb with a typical accuracy of ±20 ppb or ±20% m.v. in the 0–200 ppb range. It is the successor to the SFA30 and is fully compatible with Project Aura—both electrically and mechanically for installation in the 3D-printed enclosure used there. You can find details on Project Aura and the 3D enclosure at Project Aura – Make the Invisible Visible .
The module is based on the Sensirion SFA40 and uses an electrochemical measurement principle with very low cross-sensitivity to ethanol (< 0.3%), which significantly reduces false alarms caused by typical household odors. An integrated SHT4x sensor provides automatic temperature and humidity compensation, with output via an easy-to-use Gravity I2C interface.
